A family in the UAE is in shock after a simple parking disagreement ended in a deadly shooting. Maher Salem Wafai, the victims’ brother, shared the painful story. His 66-year-old mother was in the car with her four daughters when a man became angry over a parking issue. The man reportedly pulled out a gun and started shooting.
Three of the sisters were shot. Sadly, the two oldest—aged 35 and 38—died soon after the attack. The third sister, who is 47, was badly injured and is still in the hospital. Even though she was hurt, she handed her phone to her 11-year-old son and told him to run away and call for help. Thanks to him, the police arrived quickly. The youngest sister, aged 30, was not injured.
All four sisters are married and have children. The family has lived in the UAE for over 20 years.
Wafai said the family is heartbroken but trusts the country’s legal system. “We’ve always felt safe in the UAE. This terrible crime does not reflect the values of this country,” he said.
Police said the trouble began when both vehicles met in a narrow alley and couldn’t pass. The disagreement escalated quickly and turned violent. The suspect’s gun has been recovered, and the case is now in the hands of the Public Prosecution for further legal action.
Police have reminded the public to stay calm and patient during daily situations. “Anyone who threatens public safety will be punished under the law,” they said in an official statement.
This tragedy has also brought attention to the UAE’s very strict gun laws. In the UAE, it is illegal to own, carry, or use a gun without a license. The law bans the buying, selling, importing, or repairing of weapons unless approved by the authorities.
Even licensed gun owners are not allowed to carry guns in certain areas like military bases, government buildings, or important public places. Only members of the military or official security forces are allowed to carry weapons under specific rules.
This shocking event is a reminder of the importance of staying peaceful and the strict rules in place to protect everyone’s safety in the UAE.
